The Shaktidance is one of my favourite moves that I would like to share with you. Again, you do not need any special yoga accessories, only the ground and your body are sufficient.

This flow typically moves the spine in a sideways bend, which is a movement we don’t make much of throughout the day. However, it is a very interesting movement to make, because it is an opening movement around your ribs, shoulder and arm, which can have a deepening effect on breathing. In addition, the body is not symmetrical, which makes this a great way to become more aware of the different sides of your body. Shaktidance is also a light balance exercise, which can make it challenging.

Always move in a pain-free way and don’t force anything, but be curious. See if you can notice whether you are actually moving in this sideways direction, or whether you are turning or bending forward or backward. Pay attention to the movement and slow down to better perceive what your body is saying.

If you have any questions about these movements or your experience, or if you would like to book a 1-on-1 session with me, feel free to send me an email!
